International Conference “Past Worlds across Time and Space” – new date! 2. & 3. Juni 2020 via Zoom

The Transdisciplinary Research Area (TRA) “Past Worlds and Modern Questions” led by Prof. Dr. Matthias Becher and Prof. Dr. Karoline Noack invites you to the international conference “Past Worlds across Time and Space - Grasping the Transcendence of Cultural Heritage and Communication“.

Due to the current situation regarding the corona virus the conference has been posponed and will be held online via Zoom on June, 2nd & 3rd, 2020.

The conference aims to overcome the canonical timeline anchored in Eurocentric history, which affects in particular two areas of investigation: On the one hand, the area of museum studies, which has been transformed in recent decades by new methods of thinking about and doing museum work; on the other hand, concepts of understanding communication as a historical process of transfer which took place in the course of the so-called premodern age. During the conference, issues of provenance and restitution will be addressed, as well as current and past forms of intangible material cultural heritage in communication through space and time which alludes the interaction between past worlds and modern questions.
